Face Exfoliators: Clarins vs. Superdrug

Friday, 13 March 2015

When it comes to face scrubs/exfoliators it's fair to say I'm very lazy. My daily skincare routine is usually just a quick cleanse, tone then moisturise. I decided I would spend a bit more time this year in 'sorting' my skin out, hence the reason why I've been making more of an effort to use a facial scrub/mask at least once a week.

I got this Vitamin E Superdrug Exfoliating Facial Scrub as I've used a few of the products from this range before (Hot Cloth Cleanser and the SPF 15 Radiance Moisture Cream). I have only used it a couple of times and have had to stop. I know I have sensitive skin but I actually can't express how rough it was on my face! I was even a little worried that it would scratch my skin and leave a few marks. I definitely won't be buying this again! I'd give it a disappointing 1/5.

On the other hand, this Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser has been a little dream in a bottle. This is designed to be used every day rather than just a one off weekly scrub like the one from Superdrug. I've been using this every other day alongside my other cleanser. I'm a big fan of things flavoured/smelling of orange, so when I seen this had orange extracts in it was a massive bonus. The exfoliating pieces in this are so tiny and gentle on the skin you could easily forget it's actually exfoliating and tackling clogged pores. A 5/5 and a big thumbs up from me Clarins!

What were your thoughts on these? Is there another face scrub that you'd recommend for me to try?

Review | LUSH Grease Lightning Spot Treatment

Sunday, 1 February 2015

For the past few months I have been really struggling with my skin, i.e. the amount of hideous spots that have decided to linger on my face. I've been shopping around for different solutions to test out and decided to give the spot treatment from Lush a go seen as though so many people have raved about it.

I applied the gel formula treatment to my spots both morning and night and found that the easy pump action bottle made it very easy to apply. I did noticed a slight improvement with the redness and inflammation of my pimples and spots over a few days.

It's designed to prevent spots from erupting not actually get rid of the ones already formed. Therefore, I unfortunately overestimated this little bottle as I thought and was hoping it was going to eliminate my current spots.

For only £6.40 for 45g I do think it's a bargain. I'm going to carry on using this to see if I find anymore improvements but I do think I need to look around for another product to get rid of these annoying creatures still on my face.

Did this spot treatment work for you? Do you recommend any products that will help with my spots?
